About MAZANYA
Nurturing life like maa
Our story, mission, and commitment
Since 2019
Our Story
MAZANYA was born from a simple yet powerful observation: a mother never lets her child go hungry. In the heart of Chandigarh, we witnessed families struggling with food insecurity, mothers unable to provide proper nutrition, and communities lacking the knowledge and resources to sustain themselves.
Founded in 2019, MAZANYA (which embodies the essence of "maa" - mother) represents our commitment to nurture communities with the same unconditional care and dedication that a mother shows her children. We started with a small ration distribution program serving 50 families and have grown into a comprehensive organization touching over 15,000 lives.
Today, we stand as a beacon of hope, combining immediate relief with sustainable solutions, evidence-based research with compassionate action, and transparency with impact.

Why Chandigarh?
While Chandigarh is often perceived as a prosperous city, food insecurity and malnutrition exist in pockets that remain invisible. Our focus on Chandigarh and surrounding regions is strategic and evidence-based.
Our Geographic Reach
- Chandigarh (all sectors)
- Panchkula periphery
- Mohali urban villages
- Surrounding rural belt
Hidden Food Insecurity
12% of households in periphery areas experience food insecurity, with many daily wage workers and migrant families lacking consistent access to nutritious food.
Maternal & Child Health Gap
Despite good healthcare infrastructure, marginalized communities face barriers to maternal nutrition, leading to low birth weights and developmental challenges.
Migrant Population
Chandigarh's construction and service sectors employ thousands of migrants who often live in vulnerable conditions with limited food security.
Research Hub Potential
Proximity to research institutions and government bodies makes Chandigarh ideal for evidence-based interventions and policy advocacy.
Urban Agriculture Opportunity
The planned city structure and available spaces provide excellent opportunities for urban farming and kitchen garden initiatives.

Strong social fabric and civic participation enable effective community-driven programs and volunteer mobilization.
