About MAZANYA

Nurturing life like maa

Our story, mission, and commitment

Since 2019

Our Journey of
Compassion

MAZANYA was born from a simple yet powerful observation: a mother never lets her child go hungry. In the heart of Chandigarh, we witnessed families struggling with food insecurity, mothers unable to provide proper nutrition, and communities lacking the knowledge and resources to sustain themselves.

Founded in 2019, MAZANYA (which embodies the essence of "maa" - mother) represents our commitment to nurture communities with the same unconditional care and dedication that a mother shows her children. We started with a small ration distribution program serving 50 families and have grown into a comprehensive organization touching thousands of lives.

Our Mission

To eliminate food insecurity and malnutrition in Chandigarh by providing comprehensive nutrition support, maternal health services, and building sustainable community resilience.

Core Focus Areas

  • Immediate hunger relief
  • Maternal & child nutrition

The Strategic Focus

Why
Chandigarh?

Food insecurity in 'The City Beautiful' lurks in plain sight. Our focus here is strategic—leveraging the city's potential to create a replicable model for urban food resilience.

Our Primary Reach

  • Chandigarh (Peri-urban belts)
  • Panchkula Slum Clusters
  • Mohali Urban Villages
  • Zirakpur Buffer Zones

Invisible Hunger

12% of peri-urban households experience acute food insecurity, hidden from the city's prosperous facade.

Nutrition Gap

Despite infrastructure, marginalized mothers face barriers to critical prenatal and infant nutrition support.

Migrant Vulnerability

Daily wage earners in construction and services live with limited access to consistent, healthy food sources.

Research Potential

Proximity to top-tier institutions makes the region ideal for creating scalable nutrition models.

Urban Resilience

The city's structure offers unique opportunities for implementing transformative kitchen garden networks.

Active Citizenship

A strong social fabric allows for rapid mobilization of community-driven food security initiatives.
